For the past 2 and a half years I have been involved in infertility treatment and seen
the misery of couples who can not conceive. Some of this couples eventually choose to
live a childless life because they simply can't have a child, no matter how many
medically invasive, expensive and humiliating treatments they receive. And some, left
with the only option being adoption, choose not to go that route due to expense and
other personal reasons. These people are not selfish and it is reprehensible to
suggest otherwise. They have put themselves through considerable humiliation, expense,
heartache and strain to their marriage just to try to accomplish something that most
people can do in their own homes.
I would not wish infertility on the most evil person I've ever met. Until people
understand the heartache of infertility and the choice by which many arrive at
childlessness, do not judge those that do not have children.
