A motion will be made at the June General meeting of the Spruce Hill Community Association (SHCA) to rescind an earlier decision by a previous Board of Directors, and withdraw support from the nomination of Spruce Hill as a historic district.
A copy of the resolution was hand-delivered to Nancy Roth, SHCA president, last night. This early announcement is intended to ensure that people interested in the issue -- regardless of viewpoint -- will have ample notification and opportunity to attend, participate in the discussion, and vote if eligible to do so. A copy of the resolution has also been posted on the Internet at http://www.iconworldwide.com/histodis/shhd405.htm.
Note that the bylaws of SHCA distinguish between members in good standing of the Association and those eligible to vote. The latter requires that a person live, work, represent an institution, or own property within the boundaries explicitly called out in the bylaws. The distribution of ballots for this vote will be carefully monitored to ensure that this provision of the bylaws is strictly honored, and claims of boundary extensions that are not properly documented (such as "we consider both sides of 40th Street within the boundaries, so St Mary's Church on the 3900 block of Locust Walk is in Spruce Hill") will be contested.
Always at your service and ready for a dialog,
Al Krigman |
