So, this is what I think in response to the below appeal, and I don't even like Kerry. I guess this will earn me an automatic unsubscribe from PatriotPetitions.US. Billy Z, does this mean I'm not a patriot any more?

And, there will still be murder and humiliation in the cradle of civilization regardless of who or what "is in charge".

In his latest election-year stunt to undermine the Bush
administration -- and our national resolve to finish the job
in Iraq -- John Kerry has launched a petition calling for the
resignation of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Kerry claims
that Secretary Rumsfeld should be held personally responsible
for the actions of a few soldiers in Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison
who humiliated a group of the captive terrorists in their search
for "actionable intelligence." This is the same John F. Kerry,
by the way, who has alternately employed claims of his Vietnam
wartime heroism and wartime criminality to catapult himself into
the highest echelons of public life over the past three decades.
Kerry's irrational call for Rumsfeld's resignation, harkening
back to his days as a Vietnam War protestor (sic), is anything but out
of the ordinary for the "gentleman from Massachusetts".
Kerry claims his petition received about 250,000 signatures.
Act now to refute this political folly and support Secretary
Rumsfeld.
Today, PatriotPetitions.US, the nation's leading public opinion
advocate for U.S. national security and sovereignty, has released its
newest campaign entreating the President and Congress to support
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Please register your support for
Secretary Rumsfeld. Let your voice be heard!

Subject: Rumsfeld Should Resign
"Nothing is more essential to the establishment of manners in a State than that all persons employed in places of power and trust must be men of unexceptionable characters." --Samuel Adams

Rumsfeld, I believe, failed to establish the command presence and policies that ensured the minimization of political/military disadvantageous publicity for our nation in general and our president in particular.

Rumsfeld failed to meet your Samuel Adams standard. Unwittingly, he enabled many commanders down the chain of command also to fail to meet the standard. The officers failed to lead the right way.

Where is all the actionable intelligence we got from making detainees dress up in women's ware or is it undress? What kind of command morons would let such stupid acts be photo documented and distributed to the world press? A professional military has as much to do with good conduct and competenceas it does with compensation.

In its most base element, torture has always been part of war. Americawas reminded of this byLife Magazine as we watched water being poured down the nose of a contorted and choking VC prisoner. So, lets take the nonviolent high road and stick a smelly used thong on some Muslim's head. Hey, its happening right now somewhere in an American fraternity in violation of a university's anti-hazing policy.

Oh and by the way, where was his articulated strategic plan to consolidate control over, command, and support the governing ofpostwar Iraq?

This campaign, Donald Rumsfeld failed himself; Donald Rumsfeld failed our military; Donald Rumsfeld failed our president; and Donald Rumsfeld failed our nation on the world stage. At this point in his life, Donald Rumsfeld failed not for trying but for lacking the ability to get the job done and to effectively counsel our president.

The Federalist is far more valuable to our nation as honest brokers of intellectual thought than as scheming partisan ideologues.

Donald Rumsfeld has not been efficacious in prosecutingthe Iraq War or in helping to reelect oursitting president. Donald Rumsfeld must resign!
