My car was broken into Sat night (47 & Cedar) & I was awakened by 
police at 3 am to go to the station because they actually caught the 
guy in the act. The plainclothesman who caught him was cruising around 
in an unmarked car at the time, looking for bad guys doing bad things. 
He told me they'd stepped up the plainclothes cruising and had caught 3 
guys breaking into cars in 3 days. The burglar in my car had taken a 
bag of cat food from the trunk (the only thing worth anything) so I 
assume he was an "amateur" or crackhead.

This doesn't help with those daytime break-ins, though.
