Holidays and muggings just go together, always have. Many years ago,
while still young (and before I moved to center city and got some smarts) I
ended up getting mugged 3 times - 2 of those times being right around
Christmas.
The 48th and Warrington story I found particularly awful - walking down the
block with your children and seeing masked men with guns? And the would-be
victim turning around and having his own gun? Good grief, when you think
what could have happened if one of the 3 people with weapons had decided to
start shooting. The fact that one of these guys did shoot at a police
officer says they have no respect for life or a bit of sense. Glad the
kids are safe!
We all need to be careful, even more at this time of year - muggings,
break-ins (attempted and successful) seem to really be on the rise. And it
would be nice if people living on the same block could take a minute to look out
for one another if they see anything that looks out of the norm.
