Cindy,

I am not sure about the proper course of action but we just sent a little letter to Jannie Blackwell, the Police Dept. and the Church in the corner of our block. There was a funeral on saturday and they put up the temporary No Parking signs (9am to 1pm) the morning of the funeral. Since we had already been on the spot from the night before, we got a ticket. It's bad enough that we pay for parking permits in our block but on top of that, the police dept. didn't follow their own rules of 24h posting of temporary signs AND we now have to pay a ticket.

Maty

On Monday (Happy Valentine's Day) I came out from a job at 25th & Spruce to find that my car had been booted in error. The boot guys misread my tag, and thought I was a wanted criminal. Meanwhile, I don't even have any parking tickets, let alone moving violations! I'm smirking now, but on Monday--in the cold and rain--I wasn't very happy.

I am a petsitter--so I drive from job to job all day--and I had to cancel my last 4 jobs. And I began my descent into the 5th Circle of Hell that is the Philadelphia Parking Authority, trying to free my car. I'll spare you all the grisly details (spent 2 hours on the phones, had to go to 9th & Filbert, back to 25th & Spruce) - the whole process took about 4 hours until my car was liberated. This happened around 2, so I was working against the clock to get free by 5--or else I would have to rent a car for the next day's jobs.

But here's my question: After lodging a complaint, should I take the legal process any further? Is it worth it, or just a colossal waste of time? Maybe the incident is just a consequence of "life in the big city", and I should just deduct those lost wages from my income tax next year?!? Do I stand a chance against the Parking Authority (or any City agency for that matter) Should I call Roebuck's office?

Input please.....
