Not really. The restaurant revolution was started by a host of places like The Black Banana on South Street, in the days when you could rent there very cheaply because the on-again/off-again Cross-Town Expressway had chased everybody out so there were lots of empty storefronts. These were anything but "fern bar" type places. People like Steve Poses came afterward, when the pioneers had paved the way. Not to imply that this distracts from the credit they deserve for what they achieved in the second wave.
