Chris,
I did as you asked and posted your email to the local purple list. I want
you to know that each of your 3 hate mails to me was hurtful and very
disappointing. I don't care if you want to call me a pussy, but I'm
genuinly concerned about how you are being effected as you seem addicted to
this UCD culture and hope in its agenda..
I've known you a long time, and your hotheaded hate mails are not such a
surprise. I think you often regret these outbursts later. I want you to
know that I can easily put these 3 letters behind me. Sometimes, I think,
these raw outbursts of emotion can actually be productive if they bring
better understanding between people. I've gotten used to these things, and
while I don't like it; I've learned that principals require courage too.
I've learned that I can take this if avoiding these abuses forces me to
abondon my principals.
My principals are nearly the same as when we worked together all those year
ago. I’m sad to tell you that I believe you may have changed significantly.
Your e-mail dishonors you and further dishonors FOCP by exemplifying another
organization leader to engage in this very telling behavior.
If you are right about me,
Why did the FOCP members approve my views when I was last permitted to speak
to them? I spoke openly and publicly and they agreed with me against your
leaders arguments. You weren't present. Why can't someone else corroborate
the attacks on my conduct by describing one incident where I started
screaming and foaming at the mouth like the picture you try to paint?
People tell me that I'm friendly and cooperative.
I don't have all of these demands over the physical environment of the park
as you guys, but I'm extremely concerned about destroying and replacing our
culture as a community and our rights as citizens. If you and the people
want to paint the trash cans purple with pink dots, that is fine with me.
Just ask the people publicly first.
This is important to all of you, Chris.
I noticed that your project demands a working relationship with several
parts of the city government. Unfortunately, while you have felt that I am
your enemy, your undisputed leader, Tony West, may have seriously and
finally destroyed these partnerships which you need. You need to investigate
an article he wrote for the Public Record about a meeting when he was
representing all of you. (Please tell Matt G as well. I think very highly
of him and he deserves a heads up.)
West wrote a disgraceful smear of your elected Councilwoman. Ironically, the
previous day I delivered a complaint to her staff about his dishonest public
posts about the same issue as an example of your out of control
organization. It’s true that I have been asking the city government to shun
the FOCP since the year 2000 because it’s leaders cannot be trusted to act
in the public interest.
Ultimately, it is the actions of your leaders that have proven my point and
not my efforts. The organization never stands up and takes responsibility
for its own conduct. Outsiders are always lazy complainers and FOCP never
makes mistakes. FOCP always blames the city or someone for what is often so
obviously the work of FOCP leaders.
Then, you want to say I am mean to you as your saving the community and
doin' it for the kids. I wish I could just thank you for any good work you
do, but you are using these good acts like a shield while you protect your
secret power and make these character attacks. This is a really old
response from your gang.
Chris, if you calm down, I’m perfectly willing to overlook this recent
conduct towards me. I do value you as a friend and you are going down the
wrong path with your absorption into the gang type of behavior that tends to
shape the FOCP leaders the same as the leader's of street gangs. As I’ve
offered so many times in the past, when you guys are ready to completely
reform FOCP so it can be a responsible "friends group" in our West
Philadelphia neighborhood, I will definitely help you in a positive manner.
You guys lose so many opportunities because of the bad reputation. After we
worked together, I developed skills that could be very helpful to FOCP like
the rather simple act of grantwriting that UCD likes to suggest only it can
do. I, and I believe others, would indeed help a responsible FOCP.
Anyone might suck up to UCD and offer themselves as a pawn for this
frightening agenda. Can FOCP ever answer to the people and stand on a set
of principals before it engages UCD? I honestly think that those folks that
choose the perception of power and prestige that UCD uses to lure its
partners will ultimately regret giving up their principals. I hope it's not
too late when you and others recognize that I am right about preserving the
principals neccessary in a representative democracy
The last time I was permitted to speak by the FOCP was three years ago. The
members agreed with me and voted to allow me to create a process to reach
out to other park users and report back to the members. I was removed
immediately after the public meeting when I sent my thank you letter and
initial plans the next day. Mr. West made sure that the goals were never
attempted by calling it an outreach committee, and arrogantly ordering me to
take membership fliers to park groups and tell them to give you money. This
was a slap in the face to all the FOCP members not just me. They’re good
people too and don’t want West and his jester Siano to rule as a tyrant
king.
Chris, the people using the park are not FOCP enemies and it is completely
disrespectful to all of us to tell us we don’t count because we don’t give
you money and obey your workdays. A Friends group needs to be friendly
first. These people are no threat to any good plans and should not be called
whores and gang members as UCD and your leaders do publicly. They should not
then be banned from participation until things are too late.
I do remember when you unsubscribed from the list. You insulted someone who
honestly shares his views against the UCD BID. I noticed you never tried to
engage him previously in a discussion. You came out of nowhere with an
arrogant, condescending, ad hominem post, and then unsubscribed. Shame on
you, Chris. I really hope you consider what I am telling you.
Your friend,
Glenn

Subject: what the hell happned to you?
Glen,
Someone forwarded me your post this morning. My question is
when did you become such a whining pussy? Man it must suck
to be you. You aren’t funny and you aren’t cool.
Negative posts like yours are why I unsubscribed to the
list. However I drafted a response. Feel free to post if
you like.
Your former friend,
Chris
What a clown! He is so twisted by vendetta against UCD and
FOCP that he thinks that every meeting hides something
evil. Glen doesn’t get invited to meetings because he
doesn’t do anything positive, nobody wants to work with
him. He makes the world such a crappy place. It must suck
to be him.
The mission of FOCP is to improve the physical conditions
of Clark Park. As a director I volunteer my time and
resources to projects to implement that goal. Last week UCD
approached FOCP about using summer high school help to
clean up Clark Park. This morning I toured the park with
Dexter and TJ things and we put together a work plan for
the kids to clean up the park. Our list included:
• Weeding the paths and tree rings
• Weeding the Dickens area and cutting back the ivy around
the trees and shrubs
• Cutting new tree rings to protect the newly planted trees
from lawnmowers and string trimmers
• Weeding the flower beds at 43rd and Baltimore and 45th
and Chester
• Weeding the playground so we can put down fresh, clean
mulch for the kids to play on
• Cleaning out the dirt from the street along Chester
Avenue that clogs up the drain.
The idea is that local kids benefit from summer jobs and
the community benefits from their labor. I offered my
professional advice as a landscape designer and familiarity
with the park to craft a meaningful and productive work
plan.
FOCP volunteers will be building on the kid’s efforts and
mulching on Saturday. On Sunday Brad Zinn and 40 members
from his local church will be working in the park instead
of sitting inside for service. I will be volunteering my
time both days and coordinating the landscape improvements.
True, UCD may be undertaking these improvements in advance
of the Orchestra show, but FOCP’s motives are to improve
the park for everyday park users, including Glen. The
benefits of this work will extend to the community long
after the Orchestra has left.
The Orchestra is exclusively a UCD event and FOCP is not a
partner, nor were we consulted in this event. It’s their
party.
But if UCD wants to provide labor and resources to improve
the park I am grateful. The park needs a lot of work and
FOCP is working hard with our numerous partners to make it
a nicer, cleaner place. An example is the 85 new trees that
were installed by FOCP with volunteer labor. Funny I don’t
remember Glen showing up to help out on any of those days.
He must have been busy whining on some half assed list
served about how UCD stole his couch or how FOCP conspired
to stop one of his dinky festivals. Man, he ran those
things into the ground.
Its one thing not to help out people trying to make the
community a better place but an entirely different thing to
mock people who are trying to make the community better.
That is so alarmingly selfish and it’s so freaking sad.
I knew Glen Moyer in the mid 1980’s. He was a pretty cool
guy. I considered him my friend. I don’t know what happened
to him or how he became so uncool.
Chris Leswing
Vice President Friends of Clark Park
Chair of the Tree Committe
Very interesting morning guys.
We can call me a conspiracy theory guy for looking at the
recent history of patterns with the park and these
entities. I know that only processoholics like the Mt Airy
criminals look at the past and at general patterns.
What is it that we say about FOCP and UCD? "We sweep the
past under a rug and rule the way to a cleaner safer
future."
Well, good news! As I was breaking the law this morning
with the off leash, evil Sam; I saw that we were back to
normal.
I saw the FOCP Vice President on the planning committee
leading around a UCD guy and another guy in Clark Park. Got
get this done before the rich folks and orchestra come!
It was definitly the FOCP that was leading the group and
pointing to the various plants, etc around the Dicken's
statue. The UCD and the person I assumed was a potential
city fenton were taking notes. Thank the powers over the
land, the FOCP is once again in charge now that the tree
killing is pinned on the fenton like city!
