Dear Neighbors,

I am posting this publicly because a friend with whom I have been discussing
this topic off-list says it should be posted.

I went down to The Woodlands Cemetery with Elga (my trainer) on Thursday and
I spoke to the Executive Director about the hunt. "Yes" she said Yes, a hunt
took place during the last two weeks of June. Somehow, it got by all of us,
or at least me.

The Executive Director said, ³They were eating themselves out of house and
home.²
Deer are still there although I did not see them today, but I smelled them.
Her Assistant said fawns are there as well and that her grandson asked her
this past Saturday, ³Why did Santa Claus come with the the deer so early?²

I also told them there were three does who would walk with me. They thought
I was daft and luckily Elga was there to vouch for me. They were intrigued!

I mentioned the fox Paul had seen they were gob-smacked, and had not
reckoned on that at all.

I believe they took about 15 of them according to what the Exec. Dir. said.
The herd is down to about 10-15 now including the fawns, I suppose.

The Director said they had posted a position letter in early June. I missed
that too. I didn¹t ask her where or to whom the letter was posted.

I will go back there to look for Moxie. (my special doe) She is so clever I
am sure she escaped the hunt. Naturally, with the hunt being so recent the
survivors are a bit shy.

I understand the State Game Commission donates the venison to The Food Bank
from these hunts. Yeah, right!

Paul says he saw a tiny fawn (hardly bigger than a cat) and his mother a
week or two ago.
