question: now that the distortions in lussenhop's original drawing can be clearly seen, will he be required to re-submit his proposal -- to members of shca? to the philadelphia historic commission? or did he originally submit the current drawing to the phc? or--??

Frank and Ray,

Did either of you see the paper copy of the DP?

There was also a current drawing printed in it. I didn't save it but it was the distorted view. The one in which you only see a small part of the 11 stories visible above the northeast corner of the mansion. Its the view from the middle of the intersection at 40th and Pine. The west end looks like about 5 stories.

I can't remember positively but I remember thinking at the PHC presentations that it didn't look correct to me at that first sighting. I think it was the seriously distorted one presented but I'm not sure. Andrew, Melanie, Karen, Chris, Lew, Barry Grossbach, Mike Hardy, Dan DeRitis, Lindsay Johnston and Ms. Stewart were at one of the PHC meetings or the other. Tom Lussenhop was at both. Maybe they remember and can answer?

I think you ask a very good question in view of the distortions and various drawings! What drawing techniques are the Penn team using to make the 11 stories shrink so much behind what looks like a massive mansion? I know it's wrong, but what exactly are they doing to create the false impression? Anyone?

Glenn

and again this week in this week's uc review:

in this article we get to see another set of lussenhop's drawings of the proposed hotel. the hotel now looks quite different than his first published drawing, and in fact its increased height/mass/scale now more closely resembles what our neighbor architect marianna thomas had drawn:
