At a recent U.PENN art event, I reconnected with a young man who was a
pre-school peer of my daughter. He DJ'd an MFA party and did such a great job
that I hired him to DJ our Graduation Party.
The kid is only 20, which may explain his very reasonable rate for 5 hours of
work (4 of play time and a half hour each for set-up and break down). He used
a "standard" contract, articulately defined his needs (table, outlet, weather
cover, etc.), and was mindful of my requirements to avoid volumes which would
disturb the peace of our neighbors.
My daughter gave him a play list, and he was able to accommodate many of her
choices, which included a lot of Hip-Hop. He also respected my nonnegotiable
requirement that offensive language would not be played and he found PG cuts of
many tunes from which the B-, F- & N- words were expunged.
He is still a neighbor, making an independent living doing what he loves
(playing music) and I can happily recommend him to any of our neighbors,
community associations or local business people as a good value and great young
talent. His skill enhanced our party. I can imagine him at "Grand Openings",
community events and any party that likes a mix that includes current popular
hits.
Hooray for Mathew "DJ Phsh" Fishman-Dickerson! He can be reached by E-mail at

All the best!
