In light of Karen Allen's thoughtful forwarding of provocative posts which illuminate the question of how race and party seem to be affecting perception and choice, I've decided to pass this along. PBS is doing a poll which asks if Palin is qualified to be VP. No registration is required. Vote at: http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.html
It only takes seconds. "Yes" is at the moment winning. This reminds me how lucky I feel to live within a community of thinkers and doers, and also how different our experience is from that of folks in less diverse communities. This weekend Larry and I were visiting a friend, near Lancaster, and she said she was "afraid" to post an Obama sign on her front lawn and cheered to see footage of the Alaskan Rally for Obama. She especially liked a sign "Hockey Mama for Obama" that used humor to make the divide seem cross-able. Feel free to send this on. All the best!
