This opinion piece by a student writer is a breath of fresh air in the DP! She seems to believe some of the propaganda about Penn's "success" in the neighborhood.
It's been ten years that the university has been pounding out the "savior of our cities" crap. It's very understandable that this student would be fooled by some of the massive spin. But she recognizes that community partnerships are more than spin, and a few extra upscale eateries and latte joints. In this way, her opinion is much more advanced than anything I've read in the DP for a long time. I congratulated her piece as a great step in the right direction. It's too bad that the U. administration doesn't ask Penn's operatives to take some lessons from its more gifted student journalists! http://thedp.com/article/ashley-takacs-true-partnership There is also an article about the new hotel location at 41st and Pine. http://thedp.com/article/hotel-site-shifts-41st-and-walnut ---- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to the list named "UnivCity."
