The worst corporate practices will be ended like pre-existing conditions and rescission. 3 The democrats bill is not intended to delay real health reform for decades, (like no child left behind ignored the real issues and was always a smokescreen). Small businesses and millions of more Americans (like me) are being forced into junk insurance. Those with junk or catastrophe insurance often have no access to health care and resemble the uninsured rather than the fully covered. We keep catastrophe insurance in the hope of avoiding bankruptcy, but after paying for it, many people can't afford to actually access medical care! Using divide and conquer, those with group plans and union plans will temporarily keep their insurance by supporting the democrats. Working people, currently with good insurance coverage, will quietly lose their "cadillac" plans in coming years. Currently, millions of more Americans are being forced to skip preventive screenings and delay needed medical visits. The crisis in emergency room care will explode rather than be solved, like the democrats claim. Medical bankruptcies will also keep growing. All the needlessly sick and dying people are always transferred to the government after bankruptcy anyway. Treating stage four cancers and stroke victims is much more expensive than preventing them! This is one reason why we have the worst outcomes for the most expensive care in the world. Big lie number 2 about ending corporate abuses: Think of the bipartisan bailout of Wall St! Both parties told us that we would get financial regulations if we just gave wall st the trillions asap. (The perfect must not be the enemy of the good was the sound bite.) To think that passing another terrible corporate giveaway must be done, so that it can be fixed in the future is the same lie. Hell, the reason to delay the democrats reform is to let the corporations have all the loopholes crafted. (PA Blue Cross, ending entire "product lines," is a model for future corporate treachery.) This reform is a corporate delay just like no child left behind! We knew that No Child Left Behind was bullshit from day one. This democrat giveaway to big insurance will delay proper health system reforms for decades to "give it a chance to work." During the ten years of neglecting funding for public schools in poor communities with the no child left behind smokescreen, we moved much closer to privatization and economic segregation of schools. This is why thinking people, often called the true progressives, want this democrat backed pack of lies defeated. Have you asked, why the democrats lie and claim that junk insurance will help the poor? Or why they lie about the delay to reform, and try that wall st giveaway sound bite, "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good?"
