In fact University City does exist, as much as Cedar Park, Spruce Hill, Mantua, Overbrook, or West Philly. It's a naming of an arbitrary area. All those stickers that say "University City doesn't exist, it's West Philly" piss me off. Some names stick, others don't, but they are all, effectively marketing. Personally I prefer the name Blockley which is what is on my maps from the 19th century.

The area is called, on all City maps, West Philadelphia, so nobody is getting the neighborhoods mixed up. William H.
