Why does West Philadelphia bother you and not "Blockley"? Western North Philly near the East border of Fairmount Park was known as "Swampoodle" for years but now is widely considered North Philly. In fact, contrary to popular belief there were no Blacks in North Philly until after well after WW II. It was not a traditional Black neighborhood.
Today, people from outside of the city now moving into these city areas do not want to live in North Philly or West Philly. They want the new names. Dragging neighborhood names from now TWO centuries ago, which most people do not know anyway, does not change anything.
