The entire criminal justice system is rotten from beginning to end! The corporate media is clearly planning to manipulate the white middle class with the fake “partisan bickering” around ending the military build-up of already militarized cops. Then, they will sweep police brutality back in the closet.
Don’t forget that militarizing the cops was always designed for mass round-ups and attacking domestic non-violent movements. The corporate empire has mercenaries/terrorists from around the world to deploy against the American people, so let’s not pretend that goal will change by temporarily halting the flow of WMD’s to these police gangs.
Consider: Over 96% of all criminal cases are plea bargained. Community courts process 100% of cases, as guilty with no opportunity of a defense. Don’t believe the lies. This proves that “due process” is dead for the majority of Americans. Cops are already the de facto judges and juries when they become executioners.
Consider: Over a million rape cases are unreported because the cops refuse to take reports. Reports are filed based on who the victims are, not based on the crimes or evidence! Don’t believe the lies that come out at the PR meetings to cheer cops. Ask any poor person who was ever a victim of a crime. Did the cops help or even take a report?
This is why many people in cop-traumatized communities actually support tough on crime thuggery. It may seem counter-intuitive, but people in many poor communities have absolutely no help or protection, when they are the victims of unrelenting unreported crime.
Here in Phila. the cops tell poor victims they must file a “private criminal complaint.” People are victimized twice when they discover that there is effectively no such thing. It’s a catch 22 circle created by the DA to waste the time of crime victims until they go away in disgust. The cops know that, but most of you don’t.
Consider: The good cop propaganda. Whenever victims are beaten or killed by the so called “bad apples,” who blocks the public from view? Who supports the lies in the police reports? The answer is the so called “good cops.”
The cops in America are essentially a street gang designed to protect the power of the ruling elite. To fully understand the process of gang induction, people need to study the literature of social psychology on insular groups, like gangs.
Although a majority of recruits do not understand what gang membership entails when they first join, they are immediately inducted into “the fraternity” and become a silent majority in a very strict hierarchy, with very strict rules about gang loyalty. You can review the literature about codes of silence, as a prime example of this process.
Poor people of all ethnic groups and people of conscience must join with our black and latino brothers and sisters to end the criminal American justice system. As I said, temporarily stopping the flow of WMD’s to the criminal gangs across America is not going to stop the brutality in poor communities, and it will certainly not stop the empires’ plans for mass round-ups and crushing resistance against enslavement!
It's a complex problem that requires all citizens to join in the discussion. But seeking the truth and confronting the lies and propaganda, MUST BE THE FIRST STEP!!!
