Actually it started working for me again a few days ago. This may caused
by an upgrade to usplash 0.5.33, usplash-theme-ubuntu 0.24, initramfs-
tools 0.92ubuntu38, or {sysvinit-utils,initscripts,sysv-rc} 2.86.ds-
61ubuntu16.
