This sounds like a really common freeze issue we had with -intel on Jaunty. The freezes are largely solved in Karmic, unfortunately we've found backporting the fixes to Jaunty is essentially impossible due to the breadth of the architectural changes involved. Since I'm fairly sure this is solved in Karmic I'm closing it as fixed; feel free to reopen if you can reproduce the issue on Karmic, in which case you should follow the directions at the following link to collect debug data needed for the freezes:
