I encountered the same bug. display is first turning darker, than
brighter. I also noticed that 3d acceleration is not working (no visual
effects like compiz). I read that some people could solve their problem
by adding the following lines to xorg.conf
Option "AccelMethod" "exa"
Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"
Option "ExaNoComposite" "false"
But this did not help with my problems.
