** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Although Xorg loads and compiz functions - all functionality is as expected - the correct resolution, though apparently detected (see Xorg.0.log), is not and cannot be employed, either manually or automatically. The screen, ideally at 1280x800, is always displayed at 1024x768. I cannot test with an xorg.conf, as I have been unable to generate one that works: dpkg produces only a skeleton, and anything produced by displayconfig-gtk is rejected (though no sign of why is given in Xorg.?.log) and gives only the bulletproof-x fallback. I am unsure whether I should report any bug against displayconfig-gtk, as I am unsure also whether it is now obsolete, or still recommended, or whatever. + + [lspci] + 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/PM/GMS/910GML Express Processor to DRAM Controller [8086:2590] (rev 03) + Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:0188] + 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller [8086:2592] (rev 03) + Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:0188]
