i have been tryin to install java on ubuntu 8.10 but it jus keeps hanging mid
way the installation and after that my synaptic manager is screwed and now
everytime i try to install anything with synaptic the java installation pops up
and still goes ahead to hang, help

during installation, the installation jus hangs when it gets to the java doc
part, i left my pc on the whole night thinking maybe its a really long process
but no luck, i just had to restart my pc
