Another update. I opened the lid and tried to see if I could get it to go 1680x1050.
It did not work... But here is the kicker...I shut down, close the lid restart. Now I get this... j...@john-laptop:~$ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1680 x 1050 VGA connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm and I am able to set up 1680x1050 as my display!! Now...can you tell me how this happens? And what can I do to "fix" it again if I install something that changes the display agian? Did running it in splitscreen mode do something?
