one of the more popular NAS boxes is the Linkstation made by Buffalo. The Linkstation HG has a 266mhz ppc cpu, 128mb RAM, and a gigabit network port. I'm not sure how much these are in the UK, and the price also depends on the size HD you want. There is a growing community around this box at http://linkstationwiki.org/. This site has lots of hints and tips, including instructions on how to install slimserver.
