get to be root. use 'su' to do this.
then cd to your /usr/local
Then do a 'rm -rf ' but before you do this, be sure you
in the right place. Doing a 'rm -rf ' in the wrong place
will totally FU your system.

So do:
  rm -rf /usr/local/slimserver
and
  rm -rf /usr/local/SlimServer_6_2_x_v2005-11-09

then make sure they are gone.

Then, I'd do the whole thing not in /usr/local
until you get it all perfect, and then you can just move it.

You can do lots and lots of testing within your /home directory.
So if your home is
        /home/oscuridad
just be there, untar the file and test locally, the 'tar' will
create a directory something like
        /home/oscuridad/SlimServer_6_2_x_v2005-11-09
