You've got a box that is ten times slower, you should expect it to
be slower. Whether it is too slow is a personal call.
I agree with the other poster, get a more lightweight distro.
You don't need X and all the desktop stuff, and probably
can't get performance with it.

How much memory you got on the box? 200 GB of songs is gonna
need a lot. Good thing is that memory is dirt cheap
and not noisey. Give 512MB and use a light linux. DSL
or any others aimed at being small. Ubantu, Mandriva
and any current RedHat isn't gonna deliver performance.

Or pick up a more modern, low power system.
