I get the following error when attempting to start slimserver 6.2 on a
linux appliance server (Axentra Soho-400 ; I think it is based on
redhat es 2.1).
You could try my perl version 5.8.x compiled for redhat 7.3 (and
successfully running on many other systems):

It should not touch your existing system, but will need a quick change to
slimserver.pl after updates.
