If it's the nightly build that you want, why not use subversion to get it? Of course you need to install a subversion (client only), you check it out once and then it's only a matter of doing an svn update to get the new build and restart the server. Once you're setup it's IMHO easier that using apt-get. And you can use the log function to see if you're interested in the new build or if you want to skip it...
