Since the 6.* series have more cool features, one expects it to also need more memory.
One big change from 5.x to 6.x was scalability: while <=5.x kept all music information in RAM (in a hash variable), 6.x uses a database backend. It therefore is much more constant in memory consumption. Slimserver 6.x should not use much more memory whether it has to manage 10 songs or 10000, and it should need much less than 5.x with big collections. With
10000 songs 6.x should use considerably less memory than 5.x.
