Tom and kdf, thanks for your replies. There is a Flac binary in /usr/local/SlimServer_v5.4.0/Bin/i386-linux-thread-multi Whether the binary is readable and executable I don't how to check, as well as I don't know how to include the above thread in the slimserver-pl script. I looks like I have entered into unknown territory without a map. Can anybody point me to a Linux crash course?
