That's a good start but mostly about wireless. As far as use of
firewalls, vpn, etc, I imagine you can apply the same logic to your
media server as any other computer on the network. Personally I use the
built-in Windows firewall. Probably I should put ZoneAlarm or something
else on. I did use Symantec firewall for a while but it's taxing on the
system (especially on switching on) so I removed it & used Windows
instead. No problems yet.

Note the comment in the SlimServer help about ensuring your firewall
doesn't block comms from the SB: http://localhost:9000/ then go to
Frequently Asked Questions/Networking.

[edit] I hadn't noticed this was in the Unix/Linux section (read it
from new posts) so my comments about windows aren't so relevant, but
the wiki and the forums are worth searching. There are stacks of
threads pertaining to network config on the forums.
