That's a good start but mostly about wireless. As far as use of firewalls, vpn, etc, I imagine you can apply the same logic to your media server as any other computer on the network. Personally I use the built-in Windows firewall. Probably I should put ZoneAlarm or something else on. I did use Symantec firewall for a while but it's taxing on the system (especially on switching on) so I removed it & used Windows instead. No problems yet. Regads, Ian Note the comment in the SlimServer help about ensuring your firewall doesn't block comms from the SB: http://localhost:9000/ then go to Frequently Asked Questions/Networking. [edit] I hadn't noticed this was in the Unix/Linux section (read it from new posts) so my comments about windows aren't so relevant, but the wiki and the forums are worth searching. There are stacks of threads pertaining to network config on the forums. -- ianjohnson_nz ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ianjohnson_nz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1870 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19372 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
