I battled for a while with another nasty FAAD2 bug which caused some subtle yet annoying noise to be super-imposed on my music (M4A / AAC files). Thanks to help from these forums it was tracked-down to FAAD2 inserting stray carriage returns when outputing to stdio (a is typical in a slimserver set-up).

I may consider switching to mplayer at some point, but right now everything works, so I'm leaving it alone.
