So it appears that the solution is in a prefs.xlm in the .java directory, fairly barried, and there is a line that sets the audio.mixer. When it's set to anything other than "Java Sound Audio Engine", Softsqueeze will not start up fully. So, until I can find out why it won't recognize my soundcard directly, I don't think I'll be able to synchronize my SB to my Softsqueeze. I guess I'll update this if I find out what the issue is. Although it seems like I'm talking to myself here!!!
