Something like this would probably meet the requirements for low noise, energy efficiency and enough muscle to run a large collection:
http://www.norhtec.com/products/hp/index.html Bump it to 512 RAM and you're there. But you still need a large external drive and have to think about the added power consumption, noise, cost, etc. It really might be a good compromise to get a cheap $300 Dell and stick a big drive in it, run it headless and have it sleep when not in use. They are pretty quiet and fairly efficient. Also, you'd have a real OS and a fast CPU if you wanted to run a samba share, mail server, etc. -- Pale Blue Ego ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pale Blue Ego's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=110 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18586 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
