Thanks for your responses. I can but agree with you both.
I love these little low power devices. I will give an upgrade
of the NSLU2 unslung firmware a try. Also, like I surmised, I
suspect the wmaslimp3 software to be non-optimal as well.

I side with Zup in showering praise over the Slimserver development
team. Being a designer and engineer myself I know what it takes.
Great job and absolutely way ahead of the competition.

I am looking forward to maybe a somewhat slimmed-down version of
slimserver that perhaps has a smaller memory footprint. I find 18MB
quite large and I am used to huge software projects. I am not much of a
Perl programmer, so I don't have a good feel for where the memory is
spent. I'd love to see some profiler output and learn what part of the
code to attack.
