Depends on the plugin.  I found that some just "plug in" as soon as you
put it in the Plugins directory.  These are like SuperDateTime
screensaver.  This also assumes that you have the "load plugins on the
fly" option set. Otherwise you have to restart slimserver.  For plugins
like Biography and Album review, I had to compile the cpan perl modules.
I found the instructions on this forum.  I also use Ubuntu Breezy.
