The ripping station is a good addition.  My PC (that flips between
windows and linux) has three CD drives in it which I used to rip my 800
or so CD's to FLAC using EAC.  Having the ability to drop a CD in a
machine and add it effortlessly to the pool of music is a nice bonus. 


I typically rip and store right to the kurobox disk share when I get
new music these days, so it's not a huge plus to have a cd drive on the
storage machine.  

I hope I wasn't discouraging, I was trying to be brutally unbiased and
honest so you don't go into this endeavor with false expectations.
