I'll take the easy part first: the search box for the Yahoo! LinkStation group is just under the picture of the LinkStation, on the right side of the page. Note that it will only search a few hundred (or few thousand?) messages at a time, so you'll often need to click the "Search more" button that appears at the bottom of your partial search results.
As for the more substantive problem, the only suggestion I can offer is to check the file permissions to confirm that your perl is exectuable.
