OK, I followed your instructions and installed the latest nightly build 6.3.1
The GREAT news is that I can run it with via "sudo /usr/local/slimserver/slimserver.pl --daemon". The bad news is I can't seem to get the /etc/init.d/slimserver script to work. I followed the Debian instructions here for installation and start up scripts here "http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?DebianStartupScript3"; Sorry for being such a newb. But I will learn.
