I have exactly the same problem on 6.3 on FC5. My workaround is to allocate an empty directory as the new music folder while unplugging my USB music library disk. doing a complete scan takes a few minutes to return an empty library, before reverting back to my USB disk and setting her off for a complete scan.
I have been unable to find the Slimserver library file in Linux, as deleting that may be a quicker way.
