To try to clarify a bit.

Some people with tagging problems got bit by this.

A minor release or 2 ago, the scanning logic was changed.

Old logic: if there are both V1 and V2 ID3 tags in the music, do an
"intelligent" merge.

Well, it turns out, there is no such thing as an intelligent merge,
because, if there's a discrepancy between the two, there's nothing to
tell you which is more authoritative and settle the disagreement.

So Dan proposed the following logic instead:
If there are both V1 and V2 ID3 tags, ignore the V1 ones completely.

This broke some things in very odd ways. If people were implicitely or
explictely relying on the meaning of more subtle tags or their
implications, or the difference in interpretation between V1 and V2,
this broke the tag logic for them in very strange ways.

This might be happening to you.

I think this happened about 6.3 or so.
