I looked at this, and ended up getting a noisy windows box (to run one other program that I need). I do run it headless in a different room, but the noise bugs me - and I'm sure it's not very green. I wish I had just got a macmini.
It is perhaps a bit more expensive (or get used). Advantages: -stable and virus free. -straightforward management. -use bog-standard hardware and solutions (keyboard, VNC for headless, external drives over USB or firewire, SAMBA/windows sharing to share, etc). -small, unobtrusive, low-power, sleeps without difficulty, very quiet, more than fast enough. -all your usual linux stuff when needed, but hidden most of the time. -- gsalton ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gsalton's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7598 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18586 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
