It seems that just opening 3484 and 9000 on the firewall wasn't
sufficient. I also had to turn on broadcast support before my SB2 or
SB3 would see the server.

For those using Yast2 (graphical), go to "Security and Users" ->
"Firewall" -(choose from left hand list)--> "Broadcast" and add 3483
and 9000 to "External Zone". I'm not sure that 9000 is needed, but I
added it anyway while I was in there.

The symptom I saw was that after shutting down my old server, neither
the SB2 nor the SB3 would connect to the new server. Just to be sure
the old settings weren't interfering, I did a reset (cold power-on +
ADD button) and neither would automatically find the server. And
entering the IP manually just resulted in a short hang followed by a
blank screen. Interestingly enough, my old original Squeezebox had
been running for a couple of days against the new server (after
manually entering the IP).

Once I turned broadcast support on, I reset the SB2 and SB3 and they
automatically picked up the new server. Does anyone know if the SB2
and SB3 perform a broadcast request for the server, even if the IP is
entered manually?

I'm pretty sure that the needed ports were open, because the SB1 worked
(and I was also able to listen to streams from Slimserver in Winamp).
It appears that not allowing broadcast support makes the server
"invisible" to the SB2 and SB3.
