I seem to have a genetic inability to type 3483 correctly in these
forums.  It keeps coming out as 3484.   :-)

But I did open 3483, not 3484, and I opened it for both TCP and UDP. 
However, the SuSE firewall settings default to disallowing UDP
broadcasts unless you explicitly specify it.  So while the ports were
open for direct connections, broadcast packets wouldn't get through.

On SuSE you have to change "FW_ALLOW_FW_BROADCAST_EXT" to include the
allowed ports (which is the setting in /etc/sysconfig/SuSEFirewall2
that gets changed when you use Yast2).  Once I did that, the SB2 and
SB3 could see the server.
