Once again, thanks for the help Michael... I wiped all slimserver files/folders and reinstalled.
Everything in /usr/local/slimserver and usr/local/slimserver/MYSQL is user/group=slimserver and permissions=755 /etc/slimserver.conf is user/group=slimserver and permissions=644 The only thing I did as root was edit the first line of slimserver.pl file to redirect perl per your instructions. When I run "/etc/rc.d/init.d/slimserver start" from webmin as user slimserver I get "Starting SlimServer: standard in must be a tty" So I telneted in, changed USER=slimserver and ran: bash-2.05a$ echo $USER slimserver bash-2.05a$ cd /usr/local/slimserver bash-2.05a$ /usr/local/bin/perl5.8.6 slimserver.pl 2007-03-05 10:42:29.1372 ERROR: Cannot write to preferences file /etc/slimserver .conf, any changes made will not be preserved for the next startup of the server /usr/local/slimserver/Cache/my.cnf: Permission denied at /usr/local/slimserver/S lim/Utils/MySQLHelper.pm line 178. 2007-03-05 10:42:30.3284 Use of uninitialized value in sprintf at /usr/local/sli mserver/Slim/Utils/MySQLHelper.pm line 470. read_file '/usr/local/slimserver/Cache/slimserver-mysql.pid' - sysopen: Permissi on denied at /usr/local/slimserver/Slim/Utils/MySQLHelper.pm line 355 END failed--call queue aborted. Is there an list of files with their proper permissions available for an idiot like me to check against file by file to make sure everything is set right?? -- phango13 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ phango13's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=575 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33275 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
