Right - I have since successfully installed Slimserver 6.5.1 from the
Slimserver deb repository, and it is running ok. However, I still have
no ogg support. I don't seem to be able to get anything sensible out of
the debugging options, either. All I do seem to be able to find out, is
that it might be a sox problem. Having said that, I can't find anywhere
that tells me what I can do about that. I know my Sox doesn't have mp3
support (LAME only exists in 32 bit so I have it in a chroot but not in
my main 64 bit) but everything says that Sox has ogg support by default
(even the debian package page). As far as I can find out, mine
doesn't, but I'd rather avoid recompiling from source if I can.

The thing that is really confusing me is that I understood ogg support
to be 'built-in' to the squeezebox system (as it says on the file types
page of the slimserver web interface), but if I untick the software ogg
support options (which seem to use Sox) instead of just not playing
(which is what happens otherwise) I get a 'cannot open file' message.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

Paul
