The double-dot was of course a typo. This old ibook tends to double or triple the . key and miss shift keys a lot these days. the dots are nicely put into context by a simple 'ls -a'. the resulting list of files starts with '.' and '..' which refer to the current directory and the parent directory respectively. -kdf
