First of all, on any linux system it is a mistake to log in as root other than for the short period required to do whatever only root can do. Your music, Slimserver and any other programs should really be installed and run as just an ordinary user.
To tell Slimserver which directory to use for music, open your web browser and type in http://servername:9000 where "servername" is the name of the machine. (You can also use the machine's IP address.) If you are doing this from the linux machine itself, you can use "localhost" as the servername. The Slimserver web page should appear. This is your control panel for Slimserver. Go to "server settings" and down that page you'll see "music directory." Put in the path to the directory where your music is stored. You'll want to do a scan of the directory at this point so Slimserver can make an inventory of your music. If your Windows machine has a shared directory, you'd put the path to that in the music directory spot. I'm not at home right now so this is from memory but I think it's pretty close. -- mlsstl ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mlsstl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9598 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36026 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
