unfortuneatly i can't help as you are well beyond my knowledge. I close my machine down using LOGOUT and TURN OFF on the KDE desktop that i use. All LAN cards/controllers have worked with this shut down, I haven't had to use some sort of partial shut down. I have found that a shut off with the power switch messes things up and the machine won't start on WOL. Something useful is happening with the KDE shutdown, but I haven't the brains or knowledge to tell you what. Good luck with your fun.
