I have recently moved Slimserver and my music files over to my Debian
Etch box, which has Samba configured so that only authorised users on
my network can access certain shares (via groups).

I have previously read that when installing the Slimserver software, a
user is created called ‘slimserver’. This user then
requires read and execute permissions on the music share.

My music share has been set up with permissions of 750, so if I have
understood the slimserver user part correctly, is it just a case of
adding the user ‘slimserver’ to the same group as that of
the share directory group owner?

Also, does the slimserver user have a password and is it OK to change
it?

P.S. I have tried to search the forums, but just getting some results
without the error page is an achievement for me!

Thanks,

Warren
